This is what we Americans have become best at. We look for anything we can find that we feel is wrong or bad and we rant and rave about it until we get who ever is in charge in some type of trouble. It doesn’t matter if it is an American product, a movie, a company, or even a friend or relative. We have become the biggest [exp] disturbers on the planet. He isn’t even the President yet. Why can’t we look and find all the good qualities and rant and rave about that? Look people, if you haven’t noticed, we are on a sinking ship with huge holes below the water line. I don’t CARE who put them there. Lets pull together and get this ship sealed up and start bailing the water out. We are all finished if we just stand there looking at the holes and bitch about who or why or how they got there.
It’s completely up to us now. You want to continue bitching? Ok. Go ahead.
I’d like to say that I can’t believe this, but I do. And this is just the beginning folks, you aint seen nothin yet! After Tuesday this country is going to be “Blackified!” And poor Abe Lincoln is going to be referred to in almost every speech this “bird” makes!
As for this flag, my flag, the one I spent a year in Vietnam for. The one I salute and at times shed tears over. It has suffered a desecration worse then being burned. There are laws on our books which are supposed to prohibit things like this. But they’re going to be ignored. “See, we’ve been saying for years that they’re prejudiced!” This is sickening!
The Veterans of this country should cry out in one voice to stop this. And do it right now!
i say it was a digrace to change our flag.i dont really get the big hoopla. i voted for him, but come on.hes black and white. hes a man just like every one else. i think its time to put racism behind us and stand by our president because of who he is not because of color
hmm…that’s disturbing.
why is it disturbing, Lori?
remember the slogan, ‘change we can believe in’?
this is one of the changes!!!
@Linda
I couldn’t agree more re: your comments on him being black and white. We have to look at people first as people, and not care about their skin color. They should receive neither preferential nor detrimental treatment based on their race. Hearing of someone supporting him because he is black is just as disturbing as hearing someone say they won’t support him because he is black. Thanks for your comments.
@RC
Thank you for your comments and your service. Upon seeing this version of the flag, a buddy of mine said, “If ever there was a flag needing fire set to it, that’s it.” I think he was dead on! It’s amazing what some “patriotic” people in this country will do to a flag that represents their freedom to have the opinions they do.
@Ed
Thank you for your comments. I am keeping an open mind about his presidency, and will make judgments on the actions that he takes. However, I find it fair to comment on policies he has said he will implement, as well as the celebrity status he has achieved in this country. He hasn’t done a single thing of note yet, but people are already claiming his presidency will be the greatest ever. Why is it acceptable to take an overtly positive approach, but unacceptable to take an overtly negative approach? I’m trying to do neither.
Regardless whether it is Obama’s face on the flag or the Quaker Oats Man, what these individuals have done to the American flag is disrespectful and disgraceful.
Linda said, “i think its time to put racism behind us and stand by our president because of who he is not because of color”.
All of the conservatives I’ve spoken with would have preferred Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes or any other African-American conservative over any white liberal including John McCain. It is the liberals who always see color and are the most racist. Conservatives pay attention to what benefits the most Americans – regardless of color – and support those ideas.
I stand behind the American electoral system, Linda, so I fully support Barack Obama as being president and representing us. We deserve the government we elect – even if the election was corrupted by ACORN and a biased media – we get the government we deserve. I wouldn’t have it any other way… but that doesn’t mean I agree with liberal policies or expect them to succeed. I will continue to argue for the choices our founding fathers wrote in our constitution – choices which liberals have chosen to corrupt or ignore frequently.
I pray that Obama truly follows the inaugural speech he gave today. It was beautiful – talking about personal responsibility and all, but his choices for his cabinet are far too socialist for me to believe that he actually expects people to be responsible for their own decisions – He sees “more government” as the solution and that is the exact opposite of the ideals that made our country great and successful.
